We have made the day come true. 3000 Air Wing NCC Cadets of Chennai have enthralled the viewers by demonstrating Yoga on the occasion of the International Yoga Day at VEL TECH UNIVERSITY, Avadi, Chennai. The beautiful vast campus of the University was fully covered with white blanket of students in yoga !! The cadets were highly enthusiastic to be a part of a record-making event. For the first time in history, Chennai have witnessed the largest-ever demonstration of yoga by the NCC cadets in uniform. The day has proved the Strength of UNITY among the youth irrespective of their caste and religion. Cadets from most of the schools and colleges of Chennai have participated. The 33mins programme have started by 7.00 am and ended by 7.33 am. Prof. Beela Satyanarayana, Vice Chancellor and Dr E.Kannan, Registrar, Vel Tech University have Witnessed the programme and certified. Col.Prof.Dr.Vel.R.Rangarajan, Founder-Chancellor & President support made the event a grand success. Gp Capt Girish, Commanding Officer 4 (TN) Air Sqn (TECH) NCC and Gp Capt C.Raj, Commanding Officer 1(TN) Air Sqn NCC have extended their complete support to make the cadets gather at Vel Tech University campus for the record making event.

2015 International Student Green Car Competition, South Korea. In a Felicitation Programme  organized by Vel Tech Dr. RR & Dr.SR. Technical University, Chennai ,  Mr. Kyungsoo Kim, Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, Chennai, as Chief Guest gave away the certificates and Cash award of Rs 10000  to each student of the winning team. This award was over and above the participation and Prize amount of 10,500,000 Korean Won    given to the university by  International Student Green Car Competition Organizing Committee-​Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute, Korea Transportation Safety Authority,Samjon-ro, Songsan-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do-​Korea Auto-Vehicle Safety Association: 02-581-8015 (Ji-Hee Yang),: Korea Auto-Vehicle Safety Association, Rm. No. 916, Hyundai Dream Tower, 923-14, Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul.

The function was held in Mahatma  Gandhi Auditorium at University campus and presided by Founder Chancellor & President Dr.R.Rangarajan and Vice Chancellor Dr.Beela Satyanarayana Vel Tech Dr. RR & Dr.SR. Technical University, Chennai ,the only university from India that participated and won the  Best of Best under the category “Creative Technology”   in 2015  International Student Green Car Competition that was held on 29th and 30th May 2015 in South Korea at Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute (Songsan-myeon Hwaseong Gyeonggi-Do,),sponsored by Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, car makers, part makers, etc.

This international Competition is held every year to help college students better understand automobile safety and environment and promote new technology, to help secure green car manufacturing and safety technologies through competition and to increase cooperation among college students and enhance their sense of challenge. 65 Universities from across the world including some of the World Top ranking Universities participated in the competition.

The competition is held for two categories: Electric Vehicles and Hybrid Vehicles. Students of Vel Tech
Dr.RR & Dr.SR. Technical University designed and manufactured a Hybrid Vehicle   according to the competition rules for automobiles that use up to 4 batteries for automobiles as a power source. (Charging systems using internal combustion engines).Manufacture of vehicle took 2 months. A team of 14 students worked round the clock to achieve this mammoth task with precision that brought this coveted award of Best of Best  under the category “Creative Technology”   in 2015  International Student Green Car Competition. Student Raman Suresh Shendge presently doing M.Tech Programme in IC Engines at Vel Tech University was the captain of the team and Ramesh was the driver of the vehicle for this Competition.

The creative cars participating in this competition are designed and manufactured by the students themselves and   are evaluated stringently (with negative marks as penalty) on each of the prescribed racetracks in terms of their endurance performance and safety performance. These cars are manufactured as 4-wheel drive cars, and have a free-standing structure whether stopped or running. If one or more wheels are off the ground while the car is going straight, such cars are disqualified .To maintain road grip, suspension is required. All four wheels must contact the ground when the car is stopped, moving straight or running on a curve .The size and weight of the car must be as follows: Overall length: 4.0m or less (length) Overall width: 1.7m or less (width) Wheel base: 1.0m or more (distance between the front wheel and the rear wheel) Tread: 0.5m or more (distance between the central points of wheels) Weight: The car must weigh more than 150kg without the driver. The powertrain and electrical devices must be water-proof and the participating car must have clearance of at least 50mm between any part of the body except the tire and the suspension and the ground when itis unladen.

The Fifth Convocation of  Vel Tech RangarajanDr.Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, held at the University Convocation Hall on 20^th June 2015 in the presence of Founder Chancellor &President Dr. Rangarajan and FoundressPresident Dr.SagunthalaRangarajan. The Chairperson Managing Trustee Mrs.Mahalakshmi Kishore, Vice President K.V.D Kishore Kumar and Chancellor Dr.R.P.Bajpai attended the Ceremony.

Prof.BeelaSatyanarayana , Vice Chancellor welcomed the Chief Guest Hon’able Minister ShriYalamanchaliSatyanarayanaChowdary, Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, other dignitaries,Graduants and parents for this solemn occasion of the 5^th convocation. He expressed the milestone events, achievements of the university and highlighted the National and International success stories of students excelling in academics and research with “Education for Societal Growth” as  nucleus.

The Chief Guest Hon’able Minister Y.S. Chowdarywas conferred with Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science for his considerable contribution in the areas of academics, sports, social entrepreneurship, innovation in engineering, poverty alleviation, agriculture and rural development.  In his Convocation address, he expressed his immense pleasure to be amidst brilliant young minds. In the present situation of the unlimited demands and limited resources, he reminded the importance of the roll of private education sector for more contribution to enhance the skill development process.He appreciated the management, faculty and student for the enormous progress in innovation and research. He asked the youth to participate in Swachh Bharat and Swasth Bharat. He emphasized the importance of resource optimization in Engineering. He was impressed on the arrangements for International Yoga Day. He called upon the young gradaunts to strive to make the nation a technology exporter with research.

The Deans of Faculties presented the graduants and toppers and the Chief Guest gave away the medals, Cash awards and Degree Certificates. The parents were proud to see their wards successfully graduated from the Vel Tech University.

The Convocation was concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Chancellor.

MoU with Linköping University, Sweden - During Honourable President of India's Visit - Organised by Ministry of External Affairs

We are proud to inform you the Yet Another Milestone Achievement by Vel Tech University, Chennai, India!!!

Honourable President of India Shri.Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday embarked on a five-day state visit to Sweden and Belarus, during which a number of key agreements were signed.

The visit was intended with focus on innovation, sustainable development, urban development and scientific research with both countries exploring ways to enhance mutual exchange in the areas of trade and science.

As a part of this visit, Selected Universities from India were also invited for signing collaborative agreements with Sweden Universities. Vel Tech University, India was, one of the few Universities, Invited for signing the collaborative agreement with Linköping University, Sweden. These two universities were inspired by the extensive possibilities offered by international co-operation, recognize the need to develop and nurture new partnerships, with the aim to promote international understanding and contribute to the pool of global knowledge. Considering their common interest in promoting the mutual cooperation in the area of education and research, both parties therefore wish to expand the basis for friendship and cooperative educational exchange and have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

On behalf of Vel Tech University, Mrs Rangarajan Mahalakshmi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee and Mr KVD Kishore Kumar, Vice President were part of the delegation.

The MoU signing ceremony was coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs of Government of India and held at the Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Stockholm, Sweden on June 01, 2015, in collaboration with Ministry of Education & Research.
